Bullfrogs and free pizza

So into my fourth week here now and things are pretty going well. Had a really busy couple of weeks again at work - I think this is how it's going to be from now on... I’ve been down the coast to Abu Dhabi a couple of times which has been good - apart from the fact that it involves a 6.45am departure from the Bur Dubai office and a return back in Dubai around 8pm. It's about an hour and a half by road but the traffic getting back into the city in the evening can be pretty horrendous.
Been out and about a few times too – had an epic night out the week before last that culminated in a trip to Rock Bottoms – an essential Dubai experience if ever there was one. It's pretty down and dirty in there but always rammed and always a good night. Reacquainted myself with the Bullfrog cocktail which is loaded with about five different shots and something that turns your tongue blue – it’s pretty lethal! The best thing about Rock Bottoms though is the free pizza they hand out at the end of the night, and the chicken schwarma/kebab man that serves you kebabs on your way out of the place! What an awesome idea – why it hasn’t caught on in the UK yet I don’t know.
Have done a bit of apartment hunting too, although Saturday is really the only day it’s possible to look as there is no time in the week and a lot of things are closed on Fridays. Still weighing up the best part of the city to live in but getting close to deciding. Dubai is so spread out in a long relatively thin strip along the coast that it’s difficult to know where to pitch up. The office is pretty much at one end and the ideal place to live, Dubai Marina, is at the opposite end, so somewhere in the middle is looking like the more probable compromise. The metro is pretty good if you want to get from one end of the strip to the other, but not so good at getting anywhere else, hence the on-going dilemma about whether to get a car or not.
There are some really nice places to live around Burj Khalifa so that could be a good option. The fountain displays there are pretty cool too when it gets dark - think the Bellagio in Las Vegas, but on a larger scale probably - set to Thriller by Michael Jackson amongst other things...
Have found some time to catch a bit of sun too, from the rooftop pool at the office. This is the view from there down towards the Marina… pretty good eh?
