Rave at the racecourse

What a weekend. Went to the new Meydan Racecourse out at Nad Al Sheba on Thursday evening to see Eddie Halliwell play a post-racing DJ set. The racecourse is pretty mich brand new and absolutely massive. It's attached to a very swanky (and again massive) 5 star hotel which is pretty special. Was lucky enough to have bagged AAA passes to the gig, so got to enjoy the hospitality of Eddie's rider (vodka and Moet!) and watch some of the set from backstage. A lot of the race goers had left so the crowd wasn't as big as it could have been but it was still a great gig - the ones that had stayed were well into it.

Tinchy Stryder was first on the bill, and after the gig we got a bus back from the venue to the hotel with Tinchy and his crew! Stood next to the man himself in a lift back in the hotel... it must have been around 2am or so by this point so definitely past Tinchy's bed time - I imagine he had to be up for school in the morning or something.

Later ended up back in Eddie Halliwell's hotel room while he talked shop with Sander van Doorn, the other DJ on the bill. All very random! Finally got a cab home to Bur Dubai around 5am I think - a long but great evening!

After a bit of a slow start on Friday, I managed to get to the furniture ordered for my new apartment. Pretty much bought up half of Ikea buying beds, sofas, coffee tables etc - furnishing an entire apartment totally from scratch is actually quite a lot of effort - not sure I realised quite how much stuff I was going to have to buy! Hopefully moving in next weekend though and I'm sure it'll all be worth it...
