I was hoping for a supermarket. I would even have been happy with a corner shop where I could pick up some milk and a loaf of bread at the weekend. But no. This being Dubai, the empty unit at the bottom of my apartment building is being turned into... a McLaren showroom.
The McLaren MP4-12C retails at £168,500, or AED1,015,990 - a little pricey for me but a bargain for the sheikhs. As residents we get a 10% discount at the Lebanese restaurant next door - I wonder if McLaren will be offering the same deal?...
